In the aboriginal language spoken by native Australians, marli means "butterfly". For Alessi, marli became a family of objects. An aerodynamic shape is combined with the plastic nature of the object. Little winged "marli" settles on a wall, holds keys, transforms, expands, wraps up and contains when it becomes a basket, for fruit, bread or biscuits...
A new variants of Marli for the table: a basket. A 1 mm thick stainless steel plate, laser cut, deep-drawn and folded, gives life to these two simply and charmingly shaped objects. The complexity of the shape, generated by constantly changing curvatures, is expressed in an articulated effect of the lights, shadows and reflections, which also changes as the ambient light changes. The shape and plasticity of the marli item, expressed by us as a basket and fruit holder, enables a multiplicity of personal interpretations. Produced in two different sizes, 24 and 36 cm, which were designed to be proportional to each other. Besides the stainless steel version they are available in white.
