Metro Supplement table by Hay

The graphic style of metropolitan subway maps is the inspiration for this stool. It is a visualization of an unspecified map giving three dimensions to something commonly known as two dimensional. Visually the style and pattern of the Metro stool resembles printed circuits as known from computer graphics referring to ideas of communication, transportation, high technology - and hence contemporary society. Effortlessly Metro expresses one of the key features of metal wire - it is ideal for three dimensional courses. When metal wire is used for furniture it gets the resemblance of a sketch drawing and the transparency gives it lightness. Metro can be used as a stool, as a small table or simply as an interesting sculpture, or it can be used as a bench when several are put together.
