Hani Rashid was born in Cairo in 1958 and lives in New-York, where he founded Studio Asymptote in 1988. He's one of the most interesting exponents of the group of the young international designers associated with ''Digital Architecture'', and the author of the new Alessi showroom in New York wich opens this August. Alessi Italian manufacturing soared to new heights in the 20^th century and one company is synonymous with this lofty ascent. Beginning with coffee sets and trays and by the 1950s collaborating with international architects and designers including Ettore Sottsass, Alessi gained international popularity with its first cult object designed by Richard Sapper in 1978.
