Iota Salade bowl by Alessi

With her Iota salad bowl, Kristiina Lassus contributes to the Alessi catalogue with her own personal, Nordic interpretation of the New Simplicity. This stainless steel salad bowl, somewhat squared in shape, is made by drawing and then trimming the edge. The base is slightly concave so at to allow the salad bowl to rest perfectly on all flat surfaces. Furthermore, one side of the bowl has been cut to obtain a small slot in which the salad cutlery may rest after use.

Alessi Italian manufacturing soared to new heights in the 20^th century and one company is synonymous with this lofty ascent. Beginning with coffee sets and trays and by the 1950s collaborating with international architects and designers including Ettore Sottsass, Alessi gained international popularity with its first cult object designed by Richard Sapper in 1978.
