Exactly twenty years after the first presentation, confirming its status as an archetype and its centrality in the Alessi's production, 2006 witnesses the introduction of a new version in heavy cold-cast aluminium with a non-stick surface. This new version stands alongside the now classic original, approaching the unparalleled heat conduction of the latter, but with significant advantages such as greater ease of cleaning, optimal performance with electromagnetic induction heat sources, and a rather more contained price. Alessi Italian manufacturing soared to new heights in the 20^th century and one company is synonymous with this lofty ascent. Beginning with coffee sets and trays and by the 1950s collaborating with international architects and designers including Ettore Sottsass, Alessi gained international popularity with its first cult object designed by Richard Sapper in 1978. Linking the present to the past, Sapper designed an espresso coffee pot.
