The founders of Nachtacht, Mark Bergold, Julian Jaede, and Martin Schmidt, based their collection on connecting timber slabs by means of sheet metal, thus creating simple attributes for their pieces - furniture pieces, lights, and accessories. One can recognize their work through the use of pure lines, simple application, and the combination of natural wood with striking colors. A closer inspection reveals a range of ingenious details. The floor lamp is a materialized image of balance as a result of the influence of antithetic lines of force. Tripods represent a table, a lamp, and a stool. The legs of a desk reflect a prospective loading range. The inconspicuous Nachtacht tags are a simple abbreviation of the purpose of the individual pieces. Even though they bear the charm of construction and a do-it-yourself approach to production, the platitude with which they turn up in an age of composite technologies is captivating and beautiful.
