A design classic for you! Danish architect Jørn Oberg Utzon became famous in 1957 when he designed Sydney Opera House. This shell-shaped monument has become a symbol of Australia for the rest of the world. At the end of the 40’s, he creates Tivoli: an aluminium pendant, surprisingly innovative in that time. Simple and architectural forms are superimposed on each other, creating beautiful volumes. Tivoli, created 50 years ago, still surprises us by its modern look. Jørn Oberg Utzon receives several awards in 2003: a Member of the Order of Australia order, keys to the City of Sydney – the most prestigious recognition in Australia, and last but not least the American Pritzker Architecture Prize. In 2007, his life work (Sydney Opera House) was included in the UNESCO World heritage.
