Contemporary spirit and traditional methods... Since it began in 1987, the development of nanimarquina has been based on a very clear idea: the passion for designing rugs.
Topissimo rug, clearly inspired on polka dots, is born from the exploration of a third dimension in rugs, which has been done by converting the polka dots into volume. The result are a series of practically flat rugs with a different touch provided by the coloured polka dots that stand out, giving the impression of movement that varies according to the lighting.
nanimarquina has been designing rugs paying by special attention to the research of rawmaterials and manufacturing processes. Topissimo is hand tufted. It's a manual method carried out with the aid of a pistol-like device. When actuated, it fires and then cuts a portion of the wool, inserting it into a cotton cloth base, on which the pattern has been previously marked. The wool is fixed to the base by means of latex.
Topissimo rug is available in two dimensions and three colours.

Nani Marquina created her rug company in Barcelona, Spain in 1987 with the commitment to create custom-made rugs that meet exact requirements. Designing and producing wonderful contemporary rugs, modern carpets and vibrant textiles, Nani Marquina has also invited well-known designers like Joaquim Ruiz Milet, whose Black on White Manuscript Modern Rug is notably modern in its beauty and form. The Bouroullec brothers also took their hand to rug making with the eclectic, multi-coloured Losange rug, custom-made by artisans in Pakistan and specific to traditional Persian Kilim practices.  For the more modern customer, there is Barcelona born but London-based Cristian Zuznaga’s Digit rug that revels in the touch of the modern.
