A Scandinavian design icon ... Representative of the modernist period, the Birdy lamp collection was designed in 1952 by Norwegian Birger Dahl, considered one of Scandinavia's greatest post-war interior designers. The Birdy collection has been produced and marketed by the Oslo Norwegian electricity company for many years. In 1954, the Birdy table lamp, better known as the s-30016, was awarded the prestigious gold medal at the Milan Triennale. In 2013, Northern decided to reissue this great classic, scrupulously remaining true to the original design and the great functionality that made the collection such a success. In 2021, after painstaking consultation with the successors of Birger Dahl's family, Northern has decided to launch production, for the very first time, of the "Birdy Swing" version: This model, which had never been released to production, is based on an original sketch by Birger Dahl. Extremely mobile, this variant of the famous Birdy floor lamp allows for light to be precisely directed, thanks to its jointed, swivelling arm and its adjustable lampshade. The classic, chic style of this metal lamp is timeless. Combining strong geometric shapes with soft contours, the swivelling Birdy Swing floor lamp continues to celebrate the striking style of Birger Dahl and his language of modern design, which continues to be spoken and understood today.
