Broom chair is an example of how industrial waste can be transformed into long-lasting design creations... This eco chair is made of wood and polypropylene fibres collected in different factories and sawmills which then Emeco transforms into a innovative, sustainable and aesthetically pleasing material. To develop this recycled material took 2 years of intensive research. The collaboration between Emeco and Philippe Starck is a new step and experiment on the way to eco-conception. It is not only about recycling but rather about restructuring the industrial production fundamentally by reducing waste at the root. This approach considerably reduces the impact on the environment: less material as well as less energy waste, fewer carbon monoxide emissions. An idea that should be developed if we consider that there are lots of factories worldwide that use high quality materials of which the fibres then end up in the bin. By inventing a new recycled material and establishing a process of collecting the material waste, Emeco affirms once again its commitment to environmental protection. For more than 40 years, this pioneer in eco-conception has been producing chairs in recycled aluminium, made to last 150 years at least! Broom Chair chairs can be used outdoor (except for the orange version).
