The work of Ross Lovegrove, the Chlorophilia Double pendant is incredibly scenographic. It is imbued with great lightness despite its imposing dimensions (Ø 78 x H 66 cm). Chlorophilia Double consists of two layers of transparent PMMA petals with organic, fluid shapes. These elements arranged as fans are superimposed to form an aerial bouquet. Once the light is on, Chlorophilia reveals delicate shadow plays that interact with space. The LED light source is integrated above the polished aluminium disc (the disc is located under the petals). The indirect light, directed towards the ceiling, is filtered and refracted by the transparent petals, as the foliage of a tree would in nature. Designer Ross Lovegrove explains: “Chlorophilia is an installation of optical leaves designed as a fusion of natural and artificial geometries. The light becomes interactive through its caustic projection on the ceiling, creating a delicate, feminine light effect.” The lighting can be controlled by bluetooth using a smartphone app (free to download on Apple Store & Google play).
