Studio Job brings together two free spirits, Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel. The Flemish artist-designer couple work between the industrial world and the world of applied arts, creating projects, often as a limited edition, which combine the craft skills with an avant-garde, highly expressive language rich in symbols. The designer duo have created the Industry Garden collection for Seletti: garden furniture with a rock’n’roll style, crazy and baroque at the same time. Made of perforated cast aluminium, these pieces of furniture are entirely made of incredible metal lace with abundant patterns. Meticulous metal work: great art! The romantic, classic forms of Industry furniture are inspired by 19th-century Victorian wrought iron garden furniture. These "wise" bucolic forms, inscribed in the collective memory, are completely reinterpreted and "twisted" by a set of original nested patterns, emblematic of the work of Studio Job: an explosive mixture of flowers, cogs, peace and love signs, ram's heads, coffee cups… This complex ornamentation is teeming with interlocking designs which are symbols waiting to be deciphered. The singular patterns are inspired by the duality of the human being: on the one hand, the hard worker who uses tools and machines to produce efficiently, and on the other, the philosopher who constantly seeks to give meaning to his life and the world around him. Machines, nature, philosophy, life and death all mix in this graphic world which reproduces the chaotic, mysterious, colourful character of life. These quirky, current graphics bring a serious facelift to the garden furniture of our ancestors. Durable and light, Industry Garden furniture can be used outdoors.
