To create their Officina collection, the famous Bouroullec brothers used one of the oldest ironworking techniques: wrought iron. Their goal is to give a contemporary visual language to wrought iron furniture which is somewhat outdated. The raw appearance of wrought iron is deliberately preserved. The uneven, imperfect surface gives these items of furniture a special vibration, an artisanal flavour. By reflecting all the random marks left by the tools used to make them, these pieces add a new twist to the industrial style. The Officina wall-mounted coat stand is made up of a two-spoke, varnished wrought-iron structure, ending with a double rubber hook that looks like a diabolo (juggling instrument). Rubber is a dense, matt material that holds your clothes firmly in position without spoiling their shape. Fun and eloquent, the Officina coat hook fits in with all interior styles. The Officina collection reflects the work of the Bouroullec brothers. For them, the role of designing is to reveal a knowledge of the material and the techniques applied: fairly intimate emotions linked to the details of the object and its crafting, touching on the universal.
