Ancient architecture is constantly inspiring designers. This concrete stool with its arched legs is inspired by ancient Roman bridges. It has a balanced design and an archetypal form recorded in collective memory. Users sit on it face-on or sideways on. It can also be used as a side table and several units can even be stacked to form a shelf! It was with the Roman versatile furniture concept that Luca Beel and Adriaan Tas won, in 2017, the design competition for budding talent organised, in collaboration with Serax, by Knack Weekend. Adriaan Tas on Roman: "With arches, you can not only add functionality to an object, they also offer an extremely minimalistic form of decoration that gives a larger volume a unique identity."
