The Silhouette rug is signed off by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon, considered one of the 100 most important "artists" of our era by Time magazine. From the first time you see this rug, you’ll recognise its relaxed, cheerful, dreamlike and exuberant style. The fine, sinuous lines intertwine to form nine tangled faces. This fun, abundant composition calls on our imagination. The portraits are punctuated with light touches of colour. Each face is drawn from a different angle so that the rug can be admired from any side. A mix of abstract and figurative: at first glance, the fluid, intuitive lines intertwine, forming an abstract pattern. Look more carefully and chimerical characters take shape. Jaime Hayon wanted to give this rug the appearance of scribbled sketches on a sketchbook. He explains: “It’s a freehand drawing, similar to works in my sketchbooks. There are endless characters who are part of my imagination. They change and evolve, according to my interests at a given time. There are endearing characters, others more ironic while some even arouse fear.’’ Jaime Hayon is a real jack-of-all-trades, artist and designer as well as interior designer. He managed to conquer the decorative world with his eccentricity and genius. His whimsical sculptures are exhibited in the most prestigious museums and galleries, alongside Miró and Picasso. Widely known and recognised, he exhibits at the Design Museum in London, the Pompidou Centre in Paris and the Basel Fair. His sources of inspiration are many and varied: comics, the spirit of surrealism, Le Corbusier, the New Spirit and painters and sculptors such as Jacques Lipchitz, Max Ernst, Joan Miro and Alexander Calder. Jaime Hayon blurs the boundaries between art, decoration and design. Ideal for outdoor use, the Silhouette Outdoor version is a hand-tufted rug made from 100% recycled PET fibres. The look and feel is like an indoor rug, but the material provides durability for outdoor use. This rug has been designed to offer extreme resistance to water, weather and UV.
