Inflated design! The frame of the Zodiac mirror is made up of two oblong tubes which remind us of the inflatable boat whose name it bears. At first glance, this frame seems to be made of a flexible material such as plastic which has then been inflated. It is actually made of ultra-shiny rigid ceramic: an amazing visual effect! The frame of the Zodiac mirror appears complete thanks to the inverse reflection of half of its ring on the surface of the mirror. The Zodiac mirror plays with its reflective surface to complete the "tube" from which it’s made. Zodiac is an object you will want to look at and touch to fully appreciate its exceptional use of materials. Very destabilising, the Zodiac mirror challenges all who contemplate it: you immediately wonder what material it’s made of. Zodiac perfectly illustrates the work of French designer Jean-Baptiste Fastrez. For him, the items should have character and cause astonishment, disturb even. A graduate of Ensci (National School for Industrial Creation), Jean-Baptiste Fastrez took his first steps under the direction of François Azambourg, then the Bouroullec brothers. Since then, he has ploughed his own furrow: hybrid and ultra-creative!
