The Vitra values - A vision of the past and future

01.

Durability,
the cycle of life

Never a slave to trends, Vitra furnishings are passed on from one generation to the next. This durability is a major axis for the thorough development process for each product. The production house gave itself the time to take into consideration all of the parameters, from materials to their recycling potential, and from repairs to packaging. The result is furnishings which travel through the ages.

02.

Cultural
committments

New drives created by the Vitra Design Museum, collections composed of major pieces enable a scientific examinations via a global vision on an international and historical spectrum within the field of design. Associated with artistic and applied disciplines, Vitra highly values the transmission of knowledge and positions through architecture, exhibitions, publications and workshops.

03.

Vitra Campus
Weil am Rhein

Composed of several building, the Vitra Campus has the role of showcasing design in its essential functions as the witness and operator of evolution in our societies. The most renowned architects have worked on it: from Jean Prouvé to Frank Gehry, including Tadao Ando and Zaha Hadid. Multifaceted experience: design, architecture, art and nature, this place expresses the educative mission led by Vitra.

Retrospective

Designers, Close collaborations

Vitra maintains a close relationship with its designers. This is a craft governed by co-creation, which is showcased in each original piece. Spared by the friendship between Willi Fehlbaum, the founder of Vitra, and the legendary Charles & Ray Eames, the production house draws a special attention to the creative whims and desires of the designers, which it transcends through projects which will certainly outlive us. The most striking example is that of the Panton chair, a real challenge deemed impossible to produce in 1950, and which was, 17 years later, an immediate hit! Creative design .
