MARION MAILAENDER

After training at the Ecole Boulle, Marseille-born Marion Mailaender launched her Design&fils interior architecture and design agency in Paris. Since then, she has created both objects and scenography, as well as residential and commercial projects. Her audacity and sense of humor have already won over a number of creative personalities, including Amélie Pichard and Colombian designer Esteban Cortazar, who have entrusted her with singular projects.

Working on instinct, Marion mixes genres and eras and doesn't hesitate to go beyond the limits of good taste with projects that often have an 80's and 90's accent. Her audacity and sense of detail and materials exult when she moves her cursor to the scale of the object. Her free spirit enables her to transcend the boundaries of eras, whose references she handles with brio. She pays homage to Italian design master Gio Ponti by reinterpreting his Superleggera in a bronze version that's hard to move with two hands!

She also extracts everyday objects such as windscreens, which she introduces into our interiors as sculptural mirrors. We also find her assembling samples of materials rejected by her customers... Mabre and granito form Samples Vases that look like Handbags. In her objects, Marion Mailaender uses everyday details that may seem insignificant, but which nonetheless form the basis of a memory to be reactivated.

Embodying a certain idea of the new French scene, Marion draws her strength from her references and the artists who surround her. It's not unusual for her projects to include pieces by her favorite designers, such as Mario Botta or Ettore Sottsass, which she sometimes unearths in her workshop, which she occasionally transforms into a gallery. Design from the 1980s rubs shoulders with the work of her artist, photographer and designer friends.

Not forgetting that Marion hails from the South of France, whose accent she readily invites into her projects. Plaster has pride of place in the objects she designs, the colorful prints of Claude Viallat are often invited onto the walls, not forgetting memories of her childhood in the Cité Radieuse, where she was born.
