Renowned for its ability to discover the talents of tomorrow, Italian brand Cappellini is synonymous with the Holy Grail for all young designers. With a collection imbued with creativity and know-how, demonstrating a passion for experimentation and novelty, Cappellini has made the dream of many internationally recognised designers come true. Cappellini works with the greatest designers from all over the world. Rodolfo Dordoni, brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Paola Navone, Alessandro Mendini and Matteo Zorzenoni among others have greatly helped forge its legend.

The Cappellini catalogue boasts a considerable series of items now considered design icons, exhibited in the world’s most prestigious museums. Today, the Cappellini brand is a guarantee of good taste, Italian know-how and trends.

A success largely due to Giulio Cappellini, a descendant of the founder, who has no equal in keeping up with the changing times. Dictated by the special favourites of Giulio Cappellini, the collections are truly eclectic, bringing together creations with a minimalist design as well as a radically baroque approach. Designers with different sensibilities do not define a “Cappellini style” but, on the contrary, compete to form a heterogeneous, balanced, convincing collection where simplicity and flamboyance coexist side by side.

Enrico Cappellini was a simple maker of wooden furniture when he opened a small workshop in Carugo, Lombardy, in 1946. It was his son, Giulio Cappellini, architect and designer, who transformed the artisan family business into a high-end furniture brand, recognised and appreciated internationally. At the head of the Cappellini company, he discovered talents from all over the world in the 1980s and 1990s: Japan’s Shiro Kuramata, Holland’s Marcel Wanders, the Briton born in Tunisia Tom Dixon, and Australian Marc Newson.

What made the company unique is its ability to intercept the most avant-garde proposals, encourage experimentation and propose a completely new concept of living, free from stereotypes. With his insatiable curiosity and always on the lookout for new designers and new materials, Giulio Cappellini is a real talent scout, guided by an extraordinary intuition honed by years of experience. From the 80s, Giulio Cappellini began to collaborate with unknown artists and emerging designers from all over the world. The firm, a true patron, became an experimentation laboratory for young talents and organised numerous avant-garde exhibitions. Cappellini has been a springboard for many world famous designers like Jasper Morrison, James Irvine, Carlo Colombo, Tom Dixon and Marcel Wanders, to name just a few.The result was iconic products such as the Proust armchair by Alessandro Mendini (1978), the Felt Chair by Marc Newson (1993), the Knotted Chair armchair by Marcel Wanders (1996) or the S-Chair by Tom Dixon.

The manufacturing craftsmanship and use of high-end materials place the company fully in line with Made in Italy excellence. Today, Cappellini is part of the Poltrona Frau Group of America’s Haworth, while Giulio Cappellini, recently mentioned by the magazine “Times” as one of the most influential creators of world trends, continues to occupy the position of Artistic Director and designer.

The Cappellini catalogue is heterogeneous both in terms of style and proposals, and means you can furnish any space fully 360°, from the home to the office, from public structures to the varied contract sector, thanks to a wide choice of furniture, accessories and decorative items.
