Alvar Aalto (1898 - 1976) is one of Finland's most famous architects and designers.
The A808 Floor lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1955 for the National Pension Institute building in Helsinki.
The handcrafted Lampshade features delicate Brass strips that prevent glare by diffusing light evenly. These strips fit together, forming concentric circles of increasing diameter, until they resemble an inverted Bowl.
The base is sheathed in luxurious Black Leather, hand-stitched in Finland. The upper part of the base features an angled tube in Polished brass, contrasting beautifully with the leather finish.
This design icon embodies Alvar Aalto's characteristically pure aesthetic. Its timeless, elegant design makes it a lamp that is still highly sought-after today.
