The A810 Floor lamp was designed in 1959 by Alvar Aalto for the National Pensions Institute building in Helsinki.
The A810 Floor lamp features two inverted shades made of thin, hand-riveted metal strips. These metal strips fit together, forming concentric circles of increasing diameter, giving rise to striking curved lines.
The two Lampshades emit both a direct upward and downward light, as well as an indirect, diffused light that surrounds the shades in a halo of warm light.
Each Lampshade is fitted with a retro-style pull switch.
The Steel Base is sheathed in luxurious Black Leather, hand-stitched in Finland. It is topped by a Polished brass tube.
This design icon embodies Alvar Aalto's characteristically pure aesthetic. Its timeless, elegant design makes it a lamp that is still highly sought-after today.
