The Ethnicraft Second Nature Tray, Ø 61 cm, combines functionality with decorative flair. Its hand-painted painted glass features an “Auburn” pattern inspired by organic shapes and the shadows found in nature. The natural oak veneer adds warmth to this graphic composition and highlights the tray’s outline. Used on its own, it serves as a large serving tray. Placed on an Ethnicraft Ø 62 cm nesting coffee table, it fits seamlessly and instantly transforms the table’s appearance.
Nature Transformed into an Abstract Composition
The Second Nature collection draws its inspiration from familiar details that are rarely observed up close. Stacks of stones, tree bark, or markings on a turtle’s shell become the starting point for an abstract graphic vocabulary.
This approach gives the tray a rich pattern without making it overly showy. The Auburn finish provides a deep, warm tone, while the natural oak creates a brighter contrast. Finally, the hand-printed glass reinforces the handcrafted character of the piece.
The collection is designed by American artist Dawn Sweitzer. Inspired by her childhood in the wide-open spaces of Ohio and her extensive travels, she translates images, sensations, and memories into pictorial compositions where muted tones, more saturated colors, and delicate details come together.
