A masterpiece of Scandinavian design
An emblematic creation of modernist architecture
Treat yourself to an icon of Scandinavian design. Designed in 1957 by the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, the AJ Lamp was conceived for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, a total project imagined for the airline SAS. Like the great modernist architects, Jacobsen designed the hotel down to the smallest detail, from the building to the furniture, fixtures and accessories.
A timelessly graphic silhouette
The AJ Lamp quickly became one of the most emblematic lights of Nordic design. With its taut lines, oblique Lampshade and resolutely graphic shape, it perfectly embodies Jacobsen's style. The profile of the Lamp AJ echoes the geometric lines of the Armchairs in the 3300 series, as well as the rigorous architecture of its buildings.
Functional, refined lighting
Designed to provide quality directional lighting, the AJ lamp diffuses light downwards, ideal for creating a soft, focused atmosphere. The interior of the Lampshade, painted White, softens the light intensity and offers optimum visual comfort. The orientation of the head can be adjusted, allowing the lighting to be modulated as required.
An icon of luminaire design
Originally, the collection included a floor lamp, a wall light and a table lamp, all of which could be found in a row in the hotel lobby. Since then, the AJ series has established itself as a benchmark in high-end designer lighting. Timeless, sculptural and elegant, they are equally at home in contemporary and classic interiors. A manifesto of Scandinavian design, it continues to stand the test of time.
