BIC Lamp: An Everyday Icon Elevated to Art

Reimagining a popular symbol to reveal its graphic and emotional power. With the BIC Lamp, Seletti and BIC celebrate collective memory by reinterpreting the legendary BIC Crystal pen in a spectacular illuminated version, conceived as a pop art manifesto for contemporary interiors. The change in scale and the deliberate reinterpretation subtly evoke the spirit of Pop Art, where the ordinary becomes an image and the object a symbol.

An iconic silhouette, an immediate visual impact

Scaled up 12:1, the BIC lamp faithfully recreates the iconic lines of the original pen with uncanny precision. The polycrystal material captures the Crystal’s signature transparency, while the slender silhouette asserts a radical graphic presence. Every detail contributes to this precise reinterpretation, in which an everyday object becomes a sculptural form in its own right—somewhere between an industrial homage and an artistic reimagining.

Graphic lighting enhanced by color

Behind its apparent simplicity, the LED lamp incorporates a discreet light tube that diffuses a warm, even light. The tube’s vertical design accentuates the piece’s sculptural quality while creating an enveloping ambiance. Available in black, blue, or red, the lamp faithfully reproduces the three iconic colors of BIC Cristal ink. Each version becomes a strong visual statement, capable of defining a living room, adding rhythm to an entryway, or making a bold statement in a space with a confident pop of color.

An Instant Icon of Contemporary Design

Shortly after its unveiling in 2026, the BIC Lamp established itself as one of the most talked-about design creations of the year. Presented at Maison&Objet and then at Milan Design Week, it quickly caught the attention of the design press and made numerous appearances in editorial selections and content that shape contemporary interior design trends. More than just a surprise, this enthusiasm stems from the power of its concept: transforming an object familiar to everyone into a spectacular, desirable, and resolutely contemporary design piece. Seletti has thus created an object that captures its era while drawing on a universal memory.

The World of Mario Paroli: Between Memory and Pop Culture

A contemporary Italian designer, Mario Paroli creates work at the intersection of collective memory, irony, and industrial precision. Through his collaborations with Seletti, he reimagines universal objects to reveal their emotional and cultural significance. His approach is based on clean lines, radical proportions, and immediate storytelling. With the BIC Lamp, he transforms a popular symbol into a statement piece, deliberately blurring the lines between art, design, and popular culture.

Is the BIC Lamp a 3-in-1 Lamp?

Yes, the BIC Lamp is a 3-in-1 light fixture designed to be used as a floor lamp, wall light, or pendant light. As a floor lamp, it stands directly on the floor and leans against the wall, like a large, sculptural light object. Mounted on the wall using the included stands, it becomes a graphic wall light. Finally, when suspended horizontally from the ceiling using the included suspension cables, it transforms into a spectacular overhead light fixture. So these aren’t three different versions: a single BIC Lamp is designed to offer all three installation modes.

How do you install the BIC Lamp as a wall light or a pendant?

Installation depends on the configuration you choose. For wall-mounted installation, the included mounting brackets allow you to secure the lamp to the wall. In this configuration, the BIC Lamp is powered by its own electrical cable with a plug and switch, meaning it does not require a dedicated wall outlet. For a pendant installation, the included metal suspension cables hold the lamp horizontally from the ceiling. The power cord must then be connected to the ceiling via the included mounting plate, while the metal cables are used solely to support the fixture.

Are mounting accessories included with the BIC Lamp?

Yes, the BIC Lamp comes with the necessary wall fixation brackets, as well as the metal suspension cables and mounting plate required for ceiling installation.

Is the BIC Lamp dimmable?

No, the BIC Lamp is not dimmable. It operates at a fixed brightness level. When used as a floor lamp or wall light, it is turned on and off using the switch built into the power cable.

Choosing the BIC Lamp means embracing a free-spirited approach to design, appreciating pieces that tell a story, and inviting a pop icon to illuminate your home with boldness, character, and joy.
