A post-war chair
Designed in 1947, just as France was rebuilding after the Second World War, the C-Chair responded to a concrete reality. There was a need to refurbish quickly, to equip often smaller homes, and to invent reliable, accessible furniture. Trained at the École Boulle, Marcel Gascoin championed the idea of mass-produced, modern, well-made furniture. Poster displays this logic with a clear structure and compact proportions, without ever sacrificing style or allure.
Assertive structure, exceptional materials
The Chair's personality lies in its two generous back legs, true pillars that bear most of the weight and give the silhouette its aplomb. The solid teak structure reveals a lively grain and will naturally develop a patina over the seasons. The woven fiber cane takes up the idea of a light, breathable weave, in a resistant outdoor version, with a triangular pattern that adds relief and graphic vibrancy.
Compact comfort, long-lasting use
This compact outdoor Chair is surprisingly welcoming. The sloping back and supple weave provide stable comfort, ideal for outdoor meals and long breaks alike.
