A theatrical and convivial cutlery Display unit
With Canale, Patricia Urquiola blows the lid off classic tableware codes by reinventing the place of cutlery. Gathered at the center of the table in a composition of polished stainless steel tubes, the utensils become a point of convergence: a gesture of sharing, an invitation to dialogue. This singular work celebrates a renewed conviviality, between spontaneity and formal elegance.
Tubular design and architectural brilliance
Assembled from six vertical cylinders with mirrored walls, the Canale Display unit plays with light and perspective. The refinement of precisely shaped18/10 Stainless steel evokes a contemporary art installation. Each tube rests on a discreetly drilled Base, a functional detail subtly integrated into the object.
An object at the center of the Table
Designed to bring guests together to share the use of cutlery, Canale transforms the way meals are organized. Rather than fixed places and individual boundaries, it proposes a fluid, collective use at the heart of the table. This original format is just as appealing when dining with friends as it is in everyday use, adding a designer touch to every meal.
A contemporary ritual by Urquiola
Canale blends perfectly with contemporary Decoration, whether minimalist, brutalist or post-industrial. Its sculptural form can be combined with a Natural linen tablecloth, Sandstone tableware or a Blown glass centerpiece. It's a signature accent, designed for tables that like to surprise as much as to gather.
The Canale cutlery display unit is a manifesto of contemporary table design, reinterpreting traditional uses with equal boldness and refinement. At the crossroads of the functional and the poetic, it breathes an almost ceremonial dimension into the simplest gesture: holding out one's hand to share.
