Carmen Hartô Pendant Light, Ø 120 cm—a spectacular, large-scale pleated design

With a diameter of 120 cm, the Carmen Hartô pendant light takes on an almost architectural dimension. Its vast pleated Textile canopy unfolds around a central light source while maintaining a very slender profile. Designed by Pauline Capdo and Luis Bellenger, Carmen was born out of experiments with Textile and movement. Its design evokes a ballerina’s tutu unfolding in space. In this Terracotta version, the warm color enhances the depth of the pleats and highlights the decorative character of this very large light fixture.

A monumental pleated design with a sense of lightness

The 120-cm diameter gives Carmen a spectacular presence. Its size immediately catches the eye, while its thickness of just 3.2 cm preserves an astonishing sense of lightness. The folds radiate from the central disc, creating a rhythmic surface that changes depending on the viewer’s perspective.

Once lit, the light reveals the Textile’s varying thicknesses. The areas of shadow and transparency accentuate the texture and give the impression that the flower-like shape comes to life. This interplay between material and light is at the heart of the work of Pauline Capdo and Luis Bellenger, who pay particular attention to the effects created by the Textile and movement.

Where should you hang a 120-cm pendant light?

A large 120-cm pendant requires enough space to fully showcase its proportions. Carmen Large is particularly well-suited for a large dining room, a spacious living room, an open-concept space, or a room with high ceilings.

When hung above a large table, it helps visually define the dining area without adding too many light sources. Its horizontal profile creates a strong visual presence while remaining unobtrusive in height. The Textile cable, up to 300 cm long, allows you to precisely adjust the installation height according to the room’s dimensions.

What kind of light does the Carmen Ø 120 cm pendant light emit?

The Carmen Large emits a warm light at 2700 K with a Flux of 1000 lumens. Its integrated LED strip has a power rating of 20 W. The light source is built-in and cannot be replaced.

The pendant is also dimmable and compatible with 0-10 V systems and Triac phase-cut dimming. This dimming capability allows you to adjust the light intensity according to the time of day, intended use, and desired ambiance.

Does the Carmen Large pendant light require assembly?

Yes. The shade must be snapped onto the base of the fixture before installation. Assembly instructions are provided, and the ceiling rose is included.
