Carmen Hartô Pendant Light, Ø 50 cm: a light and airy pleated design

With its 50-cm shade, the Carmen Hartô pendant brings movement to the heart of the room. Its pleated Textile disc unfolds around a luminous center like the skirt of a dancer in motion. Designed by the duo PaulinePlusLuis, Carmen is the result of research into pleats and plays with volumes while maintaining a particularly light silhouette. In this Terracotta version, its warm tone highlights the texture of the Textile and adds a splash of color without weighing down the space.

The Fold as a Creative Medium

Carmen’s uniqueness lies in its use of Textile. The pleats repeat around the central disc, creating a regular rhythm that transforms an almost flat surface into a graphic form. Depending on the viewing angle, its shape can evoke a sun, a fan, or the tutu that inspired its designers.

Light further accentuates this effect. Placed at the center of the pendant, the LED strip reveals the Textile’s varying thicknesses and creates a delicate interplay of shadows and transparencies. Carmen thus takes on a different character between day and night. When turned off, its pleats define the space. When turned on, it gains depth and seems to come to life.

Where should you hang a 50-cm pendant light?

With its 50 cm diameter, the Carmen Small pendant light fits easily into a bedroom, entryway, living room, or above a small table. Its very horizontal design visually fills the space without creating an imposing volume beneath the ceiling.

Its textile cable, up to 300 cm long, also allows you to adjust its height to suit the room’s layout. This size is particularly well-suited when you want to introduce an expressive decorative pendant light while maintaining a sense of lightness.

What kind of light does the Carmen Small pendant emit?

The Carmen Ø 50 cm emits a warm light of 2700 K with a flux of 700 lumens. Its built-in LED strip has a power rating of 12 W and a rated lifespan of 35,000 hours. The light source is not replaceable.

The pendant is also dimmable and compatible with 0–10 V systems and Triac phase-cut dimming. This allows the brightness to be adjusted according to the intended use and the desired atmosphere.

Does the Carmen pendant light require assembly?

Yes. The shade is shipped separately and must be snapped onto the lamp base. Assembly and wiring instructions are included with the product. The Ceiling rose is included.
