Carmen Hartô Wall light, Ø 90 cm—a large-format pleated light fixture
With a diameter of 90 cm,the Carmen Hartô wall light does more than just illuminate the wall. It adorns it and instantly transforms the way it’s perceived. Its immense pleated fabric disc unfolds around a central light source, creating a graphic silhouette that evokes, in turn, a sun, a fan, or the skirt of a dancer in motion. In this Terracotta version, its warm color further enhances its decorative and enveloping character. The light fixture combines a lampshade made of laminated polyester fabric with a PVC coating, a central disc made of matte-lacquered metal, and an acrylic diffuser.
Pleats Inspired by Movement
Delicacy, grace, and lightness define Carmen’s design. Conceived by designers Pauline Capdo and Luis Bellenger, the wall light emerged from experiments with Textiles and pleating. Its wide corolla seems to unfold from the central light disc like fabric set in motion.
The regular lines of the pleats give rhythm to the entire surface of the fixture and create a particularly expressive texture. Even when turned off, Carmen retains a strong graphic presence. With a diameter of 90 cm, it transcends the role of a mere light fixture to become a true element of interior architecture.
The terracotta finish accentuates this decorative aspect. The color highlights the volumes and reveals deeper shades in the folds. It pairs naturally with light or dark woods, mineral materials, and palettes of beige, ecru, or brown.
When Light Brings the Textile to Life
The interplay of light is one of Carmen’s essential features. The LED strip is installed inside the central disc. When lit, it directs light toward the pleated Textile surrounding it.
The variations in thickness created by the pleats then alter the path of the light, creating a subtle play of shadows. The texture gains depth, giving the impression that the surface comes to life. The light seems to vibrate between the different layers of Textile, gradually revealing the wall light’s geometric form.

Where should you install a large 90-cm wall light?
The Carmen wall light (Ø 90 cm ) is particularly well-suited for walls with a generous amount of free space. Its large dimensions allow it to adorn an entire section of wall on its own and create a focal point.
In a living room, it can be placed above a low cabinet or complement a relaxation area. In a bedroom, its shallow depth allows it to make a strong decorative statement without encroaching on the available space. It can also define a spacious entryway, a landing, or a sufficiently wide hallway.
Despite its spectacular diameter, Carmen is only 7 cm deep. This keeps its profile relatively flat against the wall. It is intended for use in indoor spaces and non-humid rooms.
Which size should you choose between the Carmen Ø 50 cm and Ø 90 cm?
The Ø 90 cm version is particularly well-suited when you’re looking for a strong decorative effect or when the wall to be adorned is large. Its generous diameter allows it to function almost like a wall decoration.
The Carmen Ø 50 cm is better suited for smaller surfaces or when the wall light is meant to complement other decorative elements. The 90 cm version stands out more as a focal point. The choice therefore depends primarily on the size of the wall and the desired visual impact.
Do I need to install a wall outlet?
No. Carmen offers two installation options. It can be connected directly to a wall outlet for a particularly sleek look.
It can also be plugged into an outlet using the included 190-cm cable with a switch. This second option makes installation easier when no electrical outlet has been installed exactly where you want it.
What kind of light does the Carmen Ø 90 cm wall light emit?
Carmen emits a warm light of 2700 K with a flux of 746 lumens. Its built-in LED strip has a power rating of 9.6 W and a rated lifespan of 35,000 hours. The built-in LED source is not replaceable.
