Cupido Nemo Table Lamp: A Line Under Tension
With Cupido, designer Alon Rotman makes the very structure of the lamp his primary aesthetic statement. A slender metal rod forms a sweeping arc, held taut by an almost invisible cable. This design directly evokes Cupid’s bow and creates a striking balance between strength and lightness. Crafted from aluminum and stainless steel, the lamp combines a bold graphic presence with great visual finesse. Its orange yellow chrome finish plays with reflections and further accentuates the precision of its silhouette.
Between Balance and Tension
Cupido’s design is not based on a mere visual effect. The Cable actually helps maintain the curvature of the metal rod. This mechanical constraint thus becomes an essential component of the lamp’s aesthetic. Mass, line, and tension interact in a deliberately minimalist composition that allows the eye to roam freely around the Structure. Measuring 66 cm wide by 51 cm high, Cupido maintains a striking presence without overwhelming the surface on which it rests.
