Gubi Doric Coffee Table 140 x 80 cm, a marble centerpiece

With its generous dimensions of 140 x 80 cm, the Doric coffee table by GUBI takes on a distinctly architectural quality. GamFratesi transforms stone into a true signature piece, capable of defining a large living room all on its own. Its long tray rests on four sculpted bases whose inner curve echoes, in a contemporary style, the design language of ancient Doric columns. The richness of the veining and the depth of its hues enhance its luxurious character. At just 30 cm high, its low profile balances the visual impact of its generous size. This version is made in Italy and intended exclusively for indoor use.

Classical architecture reimagined by GamFratesi

The Doric takes its name from the Doric order, the oldest and most austere of the Greek architectural orders. GamFratesi draws on its restraint, symmetry, and the principle of fluting to transpose these elements into a contemporary piece of furniture.

All the sophistication of the design is concentrated in the bases. Each is hollowed out toward the center through the removal of material. This cut transforms what might otherwise have appeared as a monolithic block into a softer, lighter silhouette. The base serves simultaneously as a structural element and an ornamental detail. It is a highly refined way of creating a dialogue between the monumentality of the stone and the delicacy of the design.

Is a 140 x 80 cm coffee table suitable for every living room?

The Doric 140 x 80 cm is particularly well-suited to spacious living rooms and arrangements featuring multiple seating pieces. At 140 cm long, it occupies more space than a classic square coffee table and creates a true focal point in front of a large sofa, a Corner sofa, or two chairs arranged facing each other.

Its elongated tray also offers a comfortable surface for displaying coffee-table books, decorative objects, or ceramic pieces without visually overwhelming the space. Its 30-cm height, however, maintains a low profile that avoids obstructing the view.

What’s the difference between storm grey marble and honey amber marble?

The two variations give this marble coffee table a very different look. Storm grey marble emphasizes a mineral and sophisticated aesthetic, with contrasts that accentuate the Doric’s architectural power. Honey Amber marble offers a warmer, golden, and more enveloping presence.

Because it is a natural stone, the surface pattern varies from one table to another. Veining, shades, and contrasts all contribute to the uniqueness of each piece. The material is not merely a covering for the Doric; it becomes one of the key elements of its aesthetic.

How can you incorporate a large marble coffee table into your living room?

The 140 x 80 cm Doric looks best when positioned as the true centerpiece of the living room. Placed in front of a spacious sofa, its rectangular shape naturally complements the length of the seating. In a larger arrangement, it also visually connects several armchairs or sofas around a single focal point.

Its sophisticated material works particularly well through contrast. Natural-colored or looped textiles soften the stone’s mineral quality, while wood adds warmth. In a bolder decoration, metal, deep colors, or sculptural objects, on the other hand, reinforce its stately character.

How do you care for a marble coffee table?

Marble requires gentle care to preserve its surface over the long term. Clean the table with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry it immediately. Avoid abrasive or acidic products that could damage the stone.

If a liquid is spilled, wipe the surface quickly—especially in the case of wine, coffee, Citrus fruits, and other acidic substances. Using glass coasters also helps limit direct contact with liquids and preserve the material’s appearance.

Can the Doric coffee table be used outdoors?

No. This version of the Doric coffee table is intended exclusively for indoor use. Its size and sculptural presence make it particularly well-suited for large living rooms and reception areas, where it can become a striking element of the interior design.

In this 140 x 80 cm version, the Doric fully asserts its status as a signature piece. Its generous size lends even greater grandeur to GamFratesi’s design and provides the marble with a surface where its hues can be fully expressed. A coffee table conceived not merely as a piece of occasional furniture, but as the visual focal point around which to build a sophisticated living room.
