Gubi Doric Coffee Table, a signature piece in Marble

Sophisticated and sculptural, Gubi’s Doric coffee table makes a striking statement as a true signature piece. Here, GamFratesi transforms marble into an architectural material: a square 80 x 80 cm tabletop supported by four bases with hollowed-out curves, directly inspired by the Doric columns of antiquity. The richness of the veining and the depth of the hues give this marble coffee table a luxurious character, while the precision of its geometry lends it a very contemporary elegance. Made in Italy, the Doric is one of those exceptional pieces of furniture that alone can lend a living room a more luxurious and sophisticated look.

When Architecture Becomes Sculpture

The name Doric refers directly to the Doric order, the oldest and most austere of the Greek architectural orders. GamFratesi draws on its restraint, symmetry, and fluted design to transpose these elements into a resolutely contemporary piece of furniture.

The signature detail is revealed in the four bases. Each is carved with an inward-curving line, as if the material had been delicately carved away from a block of stone. This gesture softens the power of the Marble and lends an unexpected lightness to the silhouette. The solid stone thus takes on an almost graphic quality. Structure and ornamentation become one, revealing the full sophistication of GamFratesi’s design.

What is the difference between storm grey marble and honey amber marble?

The two marbles give the Doric coffee table very different personalities. Storm grey marble offers a cool, sophisticated look, enlivened by shades of gray, white, and dark veins. Its mineral-like, high-contrast appearance accentuates the table’s architectural character.

Honey amber marble offers a warmer, more luxurious look. Its golden and amber hues warm up the decor and particularly highlight the sculpted curves of the bases.

In both versions, the natural variations in color and veining make each table unique. Far from being imperfections, these variations are what make this natural marble so beautiful and give each Doric table its own distinct character.

How can you incorporate an 80 x 80 cm coffee table into your living room?

With its square 80 x 80 cm format and 30 cm height, the Doric offers generous proportions without being oversized. Its surface creates a true focal point in the center of the living room, while its low profile helps visually balance the presence of the Marble.

It works particularly well in front of a sofa with clean lines or at the heart of an arrangement featuring several seating pieces. A few beautiful books, a ceramic piece, or a vase are all it takes to adorn its tray without obscuring the richness of the stone. Marble can also be paired with wood, metal, or textured Textiles to create a sophisticated decoration while playing with contrasts.

How do you care for a marble coffee table?

Marble requires careful maintenance to preserve the beauty of its surface over time. Clean the table with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry it immediately. Avoid abrasive or acidic products that could damage the stone.

If a liquid is spilled, wipe the surface quickly, especially if it’s wine, coffee, Citrus, or other acidic substances. Using glass coasters is also recommended to limit direct contact with liquids and preserve the Marble’s appearance.

Is the Doric coffee table suitable for outdoor use?

No, this version of the Doric coffee table is designed exclusively for indoor use. Its ideal setting remains the living room or a reception area where its natural marble and sculptural design can be fully appreciated.

Conceived as a centerpiece for the living room, the Doric transcends the role of a coffee table to become a true work of interior architecture. The natural beauty of the marble, the power of its proportions, and the sophistication of its details make it a signature piece—the kind around which an entire decor can be built.
