The Form Chair: a commercial success born of a simple idea...
Already iconic, the Form chair has won prestigious awards: German Design Award 2016, Germany ("Special Mention"), IF Product Design Award 2016, Germany. In record time, Form became a best-seller for Normann Copenhagen.
The aim was to create a comfortable, versatile seat that could be adapted to an infinite number of Legs. The Form range combines strong aesthetics with comfortable curves and innovative industrial technology. Development of the Form range took three years, from the moment the idea first germinated in the mind of designer Simon Legald. The design process involved the creation of over 20 prototypes, in order to achieve the best possible comfort without compromising the chair's aesthetic appeal.
Designer Simon Legald explains: "For many years, I'd had the idea in my head of what the ideal chair should look like. I wanted the Legs to integrate with the seat in a way I'd never seen before. In the course of its creation, I analyzed hundreds of chair designs from different eras. For me, form is the essence of design. The Form Chair corresponds to my conception of the perfect chair, as it easily combines form, functionality and adaptability. ''
Simon Legald has in fact developed a unique assembly principle that makes it easy to fit different types of leg under a single shell. The elegant assembly solution developed specifically for the Form chair creates a natural integration between seat and base. The result is a harmonious, aesthetic design, whatever the angle from which the chair is viewed. This makes it possible to customize the chair with different types of bases, offering hundreds of thousands of possibilities.
Inclination, curves or variations in thickness: every detail has been thought through to ensure that the Molded polypropylene Shell fits the body perfectly and offers optimum comfort. Thin and flexible at the top, the backrest thickens at the bottom to provide stability and support.
This complete family includes chairs, armchairs and bar stools, with different types of base, from Wood to Steel, including Base, Legs and Stackable armchairs. There's a Form Chair to suit every need and every room.
The wide range of colors, from elegant and timeless to bold and daring, meets many aesthetic and design needs. The many shades are equally suited to tone-on-tone and colorful interiors.
