Gaston Wall Writing Desk: The Space-Saving, Multi-Purpose Desk

With its wall-mounted design and compact silhouette, the Gaston wall writing desk elegantly solves the problem of limited space. This creation by Florence Watine isn’t limited to the home office. Depending on the room and your needs, Gaston can serve as a compact desk, a writing desk, a small console table, a vanity, or a wall shelf. Its fold-down shelf allows you to easily transform it from a closed decorative piece into a functional work surface. At just 60 cm wide, it makes the most of wall space while preserving floor space.

A wall-mounted piece that’s as practical as it is decorative

Gaston plays on the contrast between the warmth of natural oak, lacquered MDF fronts, and delicate leather trim. Its soft lines and balanced proportions allow it to blend naturally into a living room or a bedroom.

Its true strength lies in its ability to adapt throughout the day. When opened, the front panel becomes a 60 x 40 cm tray, ideal for setting up a laptop, writing, or working. When closed, it conceals the contents and restores the unit’s compact appearance. Inside, two small drawers, one large drawer, and a 32-cm-high compartment provide storage for supplies, accessories, and everyday items without cluttering the room.

Two color schemes let you set the mood. The Spicy Coral and Burgundy finish adds a warm, expressive touch to the natural oak. The Ash green and Sage green version offers a softer palette, inspired by shades of nature.

How can you create a home office in a living room?

Gaston is particularly well-suited for remote work in small spaces or when there’s no dedicated desk. Placed in a living room or family room, it creates a true workspace without permanently altering the space. Its fold-down shelf offers a 60 x 40 cm surface to hold a laptop and daily essentials. Once the workday is over, simply close the front panel: the workspace disappears, the accessories remain hidden in the drawers and the niche, and Gaston regains the look of an elegant wall unit. A clever solution for preserving the living room’s atmosphere while enjoying a functional home desk space.

Where can you install this multifunctional wall unit?

Its compact design means Gaston can be installed in many rooms. In a living room or bedroom, it creates a home office without taking up any floor space. In an entryway, it can serve as a small wall console table for displaying and storing everyday items. In a bedroom, its shelf can serve as a compact dressing table. Used more as a decorative piece, Gaston also doubles as a wall-mounted dressing table, with its various levels accommodating books, small items, or accessories. Its versatility allows its function to adapt to your needs and the time of day.

Is the Gaston writing desk suitable for small spaces?

Yes, its dimensions— L 60 x D 32 x H 72 cm —are specifically designed to make the most of a wall without taking up floor space. It’s therefore ideal for studios, small apartments, bedrooms, or multifunctional spaces. The shelf can hold up to 20 kg, and the maximum total load capacity is 50 kg. Gaston comes fully assembled with its mounting system, hardware, and instructions. Four mounting points secure it to the wall.

Compact without sacrificing storage, Gaston transforms a simple section of wall into a useful and decorative space. A Desk during work hours, a Console, a Dressing table, or a Shelf when closed, it discreetly adapts to the various uses of the home. An ingenious piece of furniture that adds functionality to small spaces, while bringing Florence Watine’s colorful and refined signature style to them.
