Description
The sculptural Moonsetter lamp, by architect and designer Anne Boysen, won the "Danish Classics of the Future" TV show competition in 2020. Moonsetter's sleek design is based on simple geometric shapes: the circle, square and cylinder combine in a unique artistic configuration. After creating the first prototype of the floor lamp for the design competition, Anne Boysen entered into a partnership with Louis Poulsen to mass-produce the lamp. The Moonsetter Lamp was launched in Denmark in 2021 as a limited, numbered edition (100 pieces).
With its large dimensions, the Moonsetter lamp can be placed on the floor. Its sculptural aesthetics will catch the eye like a work of art. The large diffuser-disc rotates 360° to direct the light. The disc has a different finish on each side: white on one side and reflective chrome on the other. With the white side, the light is soft and diffused, while with the chrome side, it is reflected directly for a totally different effect.
Moonsetter invites us to interact: by simply turning the disc, we can experiment with different lighting effects.
Moonsetter blurs the boundaries between sculpture and light source, adding an aesthetic function to its purely functional role. Moonsetter's remarkable size naturally attracts attention and creates a space within a space, which can be shaped at will by light and its reflections. The Lamps are produced in editions of 100, each one numbered from 1 to 100 with the number engraved on the lamp.
