Ferm Living Oyster LED Wall light with plug: A Luminous Sculpture with Organic Curves

Standing 60 cm tall, the Oyster LED wall light by Ferm Living resembles a wall sculpture. Its sinuous silhouette is inspired by oyster shells collected on the beach, with supple curves that stand out in relief against the wall. Crafted from moulded and painted recycle aluminium, it deliberately retains a raw texture, a direct result of the manufacturing process. This contrast between the irregular surface and the fluid design gives Oyster a highly expressive presence, just as interesting when lit as when unlit.

When Light Reveals the Material

Oyster does more than simply illuminate the wall. Its curved form plays with shadows and areas of light, highlighting the Aluminium’s texture and the contours of its silhouette. The integrated LED light source thus emphasizes the material and accentuates the depth of its curves.

With a color temperature of 2500 K, the light is warm and enveloping. Its color rendering index of over 90 ensures a faithful reproduction of surrounding colors. The built-in LED strip produces 730 lumens at 8 W, providing comfortable lighting while preserving the fixture’s intimate atmosphere.

Does the Oyster wall light provide enough light?

Yes, 730 lumens provide noticeable accent lighting. The Oyster can contribute to the lighting in a bedroom, living room, or entryway, though it is primarily designed as a decorative light source. Its warm 2500 K light creates a soft, enveloping ambiance rather than very bright general lighting.

Can you adjust the brightness of the Oyster wall light?

Yes. Oyster is equipped with a dimmer on the cable, allowing you to easily adjust the brightness. This lets you maintain brighter lighting when needed and then dim the light to create a cozier atmosphere in the evening.

How do you install the Oyster wall light with a plug?

The Oyster comes with a 260 cm fabric cable with a wall plug. It can therefore be installed without requiring a direct connection to the wall’s electrical circuit, provided there is a wall outlet nearby. This setup is particularly convenient for adding a light fixture to a wall in a room that’s already furnished.

What light source does the Oyster wall light use?

Oyster features a built-in light source in the form of an 8 W LED strip. It delivers 730 lumens, with a color temperature of 2500 K and a CRI greater than 90. Its rated lifespan is 30,000 hours. The light source is an integral part of the fixture, allowing the light to follow the contours of the wall light and highlight its shape.

Where should you install the Oyster wall light?

With dimensions of L 33.6 x H 60 x D 12.7 cm, the Oyster fits particularly well on an uncluttered wall in a bedroom, entryway, or living room. Its shallow depth allows it to maintain a sculptural presence without significantly encroaching on the space. Its IP20 rating makes it suitable for indoor use.

Oyster thus transforms light into matter. Its irregular curves capture shadows, its Recycle aluminium lends it an almost mineral-like presence, and its warm light gradually reveals the Sculpture once night falls.
