Serax Perch Vase: A Bird Perches on the Design
With the Perch vase, Kelly Wearstler transforms an everyday scene into a decorative object. The American designer has created a glass vase for Serax with generous curves, upon which a small bird perches. This figurative detail, almost unexpected, is enough to bring the entire piece to life. Available in amber or Clear Glass with an amber bird, the vase measures Ø 24 × H 20 cm.
When an Ordinary Scene Becomes a Sculptural Detail
The idea for the Perch collection is said to have been born one morning when Kelly Wearstler noticed a small bird perched on a doorknob. She translates this image into a series of glass accessories where the bird literally perches on the objects. Vases, bowls, trays, and carafes thus welcome this miniature presence, which is both poetic and slightly offbeat. The name “Perch” then takes on its full meaning.
This new Serax collection extends the eclectic universe of Kelly Wearstler, known for her penchant for contrasts between contemporary forms and more unexpected references, between sophistication and whimsy. The designer herself describes her work as built around opposites such as the raw and the refined, or the contemporary and the antique.
Where should you place the Perch vase?
Measuring 24 cm in diameter and 20 cm in height, the Perch vase fits easily on a console table, a coffee table, a deep shelf, or in the center of a table. Its rounded shape and sculptural details also allow it to be displayed on its own, without a floral arrangement.
Which color of the Perch vase should you choose?
