Renowned British architect David Chipperfield set himself the task of thinking about the evolution of the traditional Folding chair. With Piana, the challenge was to create a product for which countless versions already exist. Using a contemporary vocabulary, Chipperfield was able to capture the essence of this popular archetype, while focusing on its technical requirements. The minimalist Piana Chair is elegant, comfortable and extremely sturdy.
In appearance, Piana is simple and reduced to the essentials. The iconic Folding chair is recognizable as such: it has no frills and is extremely sturdy.
Piana features a synchronized folding and unfolding system, designed with a single axis and built without any visible fasteners. This system allows the Chair to be totally Dish and ultra-compact when folded. Once unfolded, the Piana chair is stackable. It can be adapted to any occasion and stored easily, without taking up space.
The material used is of the highest quality. Made from fiberglass-filled polypropylene, Piana can be used both indoors and out, and is weatherproof. It's easy to clean with a simple wipe down with a sponge or hose. It's a truly multifunctional chair, perfect for the kitchen, living room or garden.
