A little design masterpiece from Richard Sapper, an absolute object in which form and function are in perfect harmony... The Pilco folding trolley was designed in 1976 by Richard Sapper (1932 - 2015), considered as one of the most important designers of his generation. Plico is one of the least well-known projects from the German designer, even though it is very representative of his work. Sapper has always developed his projects from a personal need or a problem identified in an existing object. The extremely practical Pilco is a folding and multi-position trolley. Easy to handle and extremely compact once folded, this trolley can easily be stored without taking up too much space behind a door or between two kitchen units. Pilco can be used equally as well as trolley to carry and clear meals as it can a little bedside table or sofa end-table. With a simple action, the upper tray turns over and sticks out: it therefore turns into a support surface for working or eating: ideal for eating in bed or in front of the TV or working with a laptop sitting comfortably in an armchair or on the sofa. The articulated front casters make moving the trolley smooth and perfectly comfortable. A break placed on the rear casters ensures stability when the trolley is stopped and makes closing it easier. The two trays are made from polyurethane. The base is made from steel. The casters have breaks. An industrial German designer based in Milan, Richard Sapper has received numerous international design prizes, including eleven prestigious Compasso d'Oro awards and the Lucky Strike award from the Raymond Loewy Foundation. His achievements are among the permanent collections of numerous museums all over the world, with over fifteen models exhibited in the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), as well as the Victoria and Albert museum and the London Design Museum. His products generally present a mixture of technical innovation, a kind of simplicity, the purity of shapes and a element of surprise. Richard Sapper: "I like doing something new, creating more tools in our lives. I like conceiving new things with a use or a meaning."
