Exclusively for Made In Design, six internationally renowned designers and artists—chosen for their distinctive styles—have created puzzles bearing the signature of their art, forming the “Designers’ Puzzles” collection. From Julien Colombier’s lush botanical compositions to Muller Van Severen’s colorful, graphic collages, and ranging from Studio Pepe’s symbolic universe to Cristina Celestino’s ultra-feminine and sophisticated style, each artist shares a part of their creative identity through these puzzles. Through this original edition, Made In Design sought to bring to life authentic design pieces created by leading figures in contemporary design, made accessible through the playful and engaging format of the Puzzle. Each design is limited to 250 copies, further enhancing its unique value.

This puzzle is designed by Julien Colombier, a French artist born in 1972 who lives and works in Paris. Julien Colombier works primarily with oil pastels, Chalk, and Acrylics on a black background. Paper, cloth, tarpaulin, walls, wood, and fabric are all mediums of expression for this self-taught painter, whose obsessive motifs result from a balanced blend of his skill in drawing, his talent as a colorist, and a touch of boldness. An observant artist, he draws inspiration from everything around him: graffiti, Japanese art, and travel, as well as Henri Matisse and Keith Haring—sources of inspiration that shape the landscape of his lush, hypnotic, dreamlike, and unsettling botanical universe, which is eminently graphic. His works are populated by lush, colorful jungles or tropical forests that play with the boundaries between figurative art and Decoration. The artist obsessively repeats his geometric and botanical motifs, creating a hypnotic, organic environment for the viewer. His works depict a world without humans—either before or after their disappearance—and are strongly influenced by biblical references such as the Apocalypse, the Flood, apparitions, divine light, hell, and paradise. Julien Colombier regularly collaborates with the worlds of fashion, luxury, and fine crafts.

The puzzles published by Made In Desiin are 100% made in France and produced responsibly. After several quality checks, the artwork created by the artists and the box designs are printed in Nancy. All materials used (cardboard and paper) are FSC-certified, ensuring that the wood used in their production is sourced sustainably from our forests.
