Description
Geometric minimalism… New York artist Ethan Cook is known for his abstract and colourful canvases, made using woven cotton. Cook weaves his canvases himself, using a traditional weaving loom. The canvases woven by Cook have a modern edge thanks to their minimalist attitudes, and they're also a nod to one of the most traditional art forms: weaving. Through this process, Cook combines a unique artisan perspective with compositions reminiscent of the colourful contrast canvases of artists such as Mark Rothko, Peter Halley, and Kasimir Malevitch. Ethan Cook's work has been exhibited - and received much praise - in New York, Stockholm, Seoul, Rome, London, Paris, and Los Angeles. Cook uses pre-dyed cotton, carefully selecting the colours which he then combines in a unique, unexpected way, creating bold colour block compositions. Using simple geometric shapes and a limited colour palette, Cook's pieces tend to centre around a simple structure. With the "Flat Works" collection, Ethan Cook has reproduced his distinctive abstract art in the form of woven rugs made with wool and cotton. These "colour block" rugs are sure to give your interior a hit of energy. They have wonderful combinations of strong colours for a stunning and vibrant look.
