Miniature Architecture

Ridge’s inspiration comes from an unexpected detail. While traveling through various cities, Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters observed architectural elements before continuing their research in their Finnish studio. Hand-drawn sketches, paper models, and Ceramic prototypes led to this unique form, inspired by a Parisian door. The vertical lines thus became one of the Vase’s defining features.

Its surface extends this graphic design with fine, raised striations. These grooves create a delicate serrated pattern that gives the glass a more organic, plant-like quality. A small handle is also integrated into the silhouette to make the vase easier to move. Even without flowers, Ridge retains all the presence of a sculptural object.

Frosted Glass reveals the color

This version of the light orange Ridge vase is made of mouth-blown glass and then acid-etched. The frosted glass creates a subtle interplay between color and transparency, while the raised patterns add texture to its surface. This material is particularly striking in this 35-cm format, whose vertical silhouette further enhances the artistry of the glasswork.
