Silos Large Box and Carafe by Serax: Storage That Reaches New Heights
With the Silos Large box/carafe, Plan C has designed a glass container for Serax that is as stylish as it is functional. Its dimensions—Ø 8 × H 31.5 cm—and capacity of approximately 1.07 L make it particularly well-suited for storage of dry goods. The cylindrical body made of clear glass is topped with a lid featuring a faceted handle, available in black, blue, yellow, or clear. Serax officially presents this piece as a “Carafe / storage pot,” but its tall, narrow proportions make it particularly well-suited as a storage jar.
Silos: Industrial Architecture Becomes Decorative
Launched in 2025, the Silos collection marks the first design collaboration between Plan C and Serax. Carolina Castiglioni brings her signature style—featuring bold shapes, unexpected colors, and references to vintage design—to the collection. The inspiration comes from industrial silos and their simple, cylindrical, and functional forms, reinterpreted here in a more expressive style.
This connection is particularly evident in this large container. The transparent cylinder directly evokes miniature storage architecture, while the faceted lid adds a more luxurious touch. Serax thus plays on the contrast between structural simplicity and decorative detail, with a gem-like handle that immediately catches the eye.
What can you store in the Silos Large box?
The tall design of the Silos Large is particularly well-suited for long, dry foods. You can store spaghetti, other long pasta shapes, or breadsticks in it. Its capacity also makes it ideal for cereals, coffee, tea, or other dry goods that don’t take up much space. Its diameter of just 8 cm minimizes the space it takes up on the countertop, while making the most of its height to offer a capacity of approximately 1.07 L.
Can Silos Large also be used as a Carafe?
Yes, Serax officially classifies the Silos Large among its carafes and storage jars. The container can therefore hold water or a cold beverage. However, its opening is straight and lacks a pouring spout. For everyday use, its design is therefore better suited as a preservation box than as a traditional Carafe intended for precise pouring.
Which lid color should you choose?
The black lid gives Silos a more assertive, graphic presence. The blue or yellow lids accentuate the collection’s playful and colorful character, while the transparent version creates a more minimalist look. These different finishes can also be mixed and matched. Serax envisions Silos as a collection to be built up gradually, freely combining shapes, materials, and colors.
With its slender silhouette and jewel-like lid, Silos Large makes storage an integral part of the Decoration. It’s a piece meant to be left on display on a shelf or countertop, rather than hidden away in a cabinet.
