Silos Serax Wine Glasses: Industrial Architecture Comes to the Table
With the Silos wine glasses, Plan C has designed a glassware collection for Serax with an instantly recognizable character. The cylindrical, clear glass bowl rests on a short, solid, faceted stem that gives the design its unique character. Sold in sets of 4, the glasses measure Ø 8 × H 11.5 cm and are available with black, blue, yellow, or transparent stems.
Plan C: From Fashion to Design
Behind Plan C is Italian designer Carolina Castiglioni. The daughter of Consuelo and Gianni Castiglioni, founders of Marni, she grew up in an environment deeply rooted in fashion and design. After working alongside her parents, she launched her own label in 2018 with the help of her father and her brother Giovanni. Plan C thus became a true family venture.
Carolina Castiglioni’s world is characterized by unexpected color combinations, bold shapes, and a playful—sometimes ironic—approach. A great lover of vintage design, she collects antique pieces herself and cultivates a very free-spirited mix of colors and shapes in her home. In 2025, she brought this vision to life for the first time in a design collection developed with Serax.
Silos: When Industrial Volumes Become Decorative
The Silos collection draws its inspiration from industrial silos—these storage structures characterized by simple, functional forms. Cylinders, cones, and clean geometric shapes become a decorative vocabulary here. Plan C subverts this industrial rigor with bold colors, transparencies, and more refined details.
In the glassware, this inspiration is expressed through the contrast between the sleek, transparent body and the angular base. Serax likens this base to a cut crystal cone. The glass thus appears to rest on a miniature architectural structure, whose facets capture the light and add depth to the silhouette.
Which base color should you choose?
The black base creates the most striking contrast with the clear glass. The blue version adds a cooler, more expressive touch, while the yellow brings more energy to the table. Finally, the transparent base offers a more understated look, focusing entirely on the shape and the play of light.
Can you mix and match different Silos colors?
Yes. The mix-and-match concept is an integral part of the collection’s spirit. Serax presents Silos as a collection to be built up gradually, by freely combining shapes, colors, and materials. Mixing different table legs therefore enhances the table’s lively and eclectic character.
Are these glasses suitable for everyday use?
Yes. Silos glasses are dishwasher-safe, making them ideal for regular use. Their compact dimensions—Ø 8 × H 11.5 cm—make them easy to handle, while their sculptural base ensures they make a striking visual statement.
With their transparent silhouette resting on a colourful, faceted base, the Silos glasses perfectly embody Plan C’s transition from fashion to object design. A graphic and free-spirited glassware collection, designed to add character to the table without ever making it uniform.
