Description
The Sofisticato ...
Belgian designer Koen Van Guijze's Sofisticato lighting collection clearly echoes his penchant for brutalism and minimalism, with a hint of conceptualism. His luminaires return to the essentials: pure spatial figures, raw materials and simple elements evoke the industrial revolution in an offbeat tone. Materials come to life and give shape to extraordinary Lamps.
The Sofisticato collection is characterized by the use of blued steel, with an irregular patina finish and black-blue highlights. Each piece is milled, turned, sawn, drilled and welded by hand by craftsmen. The steel is then heated and carefully polished by hand. This temperature-raising oxidation process gives the steel its bluish color. As the steel cools in contact with air, it develops a thin layer of scale that protects it from oxidation. This process makes Steel resistant to Rusty, and gives it its characteristic bluish glow.
This Small reading lamp features a directional spotlight that provides focused, functional illumination, perfect for reading.
Koen Van Guijze: ''It's from poetry written with light that a true story is born. I've owned my own lighting company for years, but my brain is still brimming with creative ideas just waiting to be put into practice. I've been able to give them free rein in this lighting line for Serax.
