With the Soft Serve table lamp, CRÈME ATELIER transforms a light source into a true decorative object. Inspired by the fluid movements of soft-serve ice cream, its silhouette features generous, continuous curves that give the lamp an instantly recognizable presence. Its design combines a minimalist form with a stratified texture, in a distinctly Scandinavian spirit where visual softness meets a touch of whimsy. Available in two sizes— Regular (Ø 23 × H 26 cm ) and Large (Ø 28 × H 35 cm)—Soft Serve can sit on a Console or Bedside table just as easily as it can make a bold statement in a living room.

A shape that has become CRÈME ATELIER’s signature

Soft Serve embodies the Swedish brand’s entire creative language. Its form appears to have been shaped in a single, continuous motion, like thick cream curling in on itself. This design lends the lamp an almost sculptural quality and makes it decorative even when turned off. The striated surface further enhances this sense of movement. The fine, regular lines created by 3D printing follow the shape of the lamp and give the material a visual depth very different from that of perfectly smooth plastic.

This aesthetic also draws its strength from color. CRÈME ATELIER offers Soft Serve in a rich and expressive palette, ranging from Caramel, Cherry, or Olive to Blueberry Sorbet, Lavender Sorbet, Limoncello, Peach, Pink, Matcha, and Wild Strawberry. Some versions are monochromatic, while others combine a light-colored lampshade with a colored base. The lamp can thus serve as a bold color accent or blend into a more subdued interior.

3D-printed in Stockholm

Each Soft Serve Lamp is manufactured in CRÈME ATELIER’s studio in Stockholm. The brand uses rPLA derived from cornstarch and recycled food packaging, supplemented in production by rPETG sourced from post-consumer recycled plastic. Additive manufacturing allows parts to be built layer by layer, minimizing material waste compared to certain traditional processes.

Here, the technology becomes a visible component of the design. The layers of fabrication are not concealed. They create a rhythmic pattern on the surface, subtly catch the light, and reveal how the object was constructed. This choice gives Soft Serve a tactile and graphic identity, at the intersection of lighting, Sculpture, and digital fabrication.

The Soft Serve design has received several international accolades, including the 2024 German Design Award, the 2023 Scandinavian Design Awards, the 2022 Plaza Interiors Sustainability Award, and the 2024 Iconic Awards. It was also shortlisted for the 2023 Dezeen Awards.

What kind of light does the Soft Serve lamp emit?

The Soft Serve lamp emits a very warm light of 2200 K, ideal for creating a soft, enveloping atmosphere. It comes with a 7 W, 720 lm LED E27 dimmable bulb in glass and should only be used with dimmable E27 LED bulbs. The dimmer on the cable allows you to easily adjust the brightness depending on the time of day or the desired ambiance.

Which Soft Serve size should you choose, Regular or Large?

The choice depends on the visual impact you’re aiming for. The Soft Serve Regular, with a diameter of 23 cm and a height of 26 cm, is particularly well-suited for a bedside table, a shelf, a small piece of furniture, or a console table. The Soft Serve Grande, with a more commanding presence at 28 cm in diameter and 35 cm in height, works best as a statement piece on a Dresser, a large Console table, or in a living room. Both versions feature the same light source and share the same design aesthetic.
