Jean-Baptiste Fastrez's Sphera collection of mirrors is a contemporary interpretation of a technical device for creating mirrored walls.
Very much in vogue in the first half of the 20th century, the mirror bracket has since been reduced to its sole function, to be nothing more than a fastener sold in the bathroom Rayon of DIY stores. The Sphera mirror system revives the decorative tradition of this invisible technical element, giving it an unexpected sculptural dimension and unprecedented flexibility. These Chromed zamak spheres serve to secure the mirror to the wall, while at the same time becoming a distinctive design element.
A graduate of Ensci (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle), Jean-Baptiste Fastrez took his first steps under the direction of François Azambourg, then the Bouroullec brothers. Since then, he's been creating his own hybrid, ultra-creative style!
