The audacity of radical Italian design revisited
With Superfurniture, Seletti and the anonymous Hello Again collective of designers and artists brilliantly reinterpret the radical Italian design of the 60s and 70s. A tribute to the Memphis movement, this bold furniture collection shakes up aesthetic conventions by combining striking geometric shapes, vibrant pop colors and expressive graphic motifs.
In the tradition ofEttore Sottsass, Superstudio and the Memphis Milano group, Superfurniture celebrates design where creativity takes precedence over pure functionality. Gone are the wise lines and austere minimalism of this collection, which assumes an exuberant, free-spirited language in the image of 80s postmodernism. The terrazzo motif and the grid pattern on a white background are direct references to the icons of radical design, evoking in particular Superstudio' s famous Quaderna collection for Zanotta.
With its bold colors and ironic visual language, Superfurniture revives the provocative spirit of radical design, making it current, punchy and accessible. This project embodies the perfect synergy between thevisionary energy of this movement and Seletti 's core values: creativity, curiosity and daring in the face of convention.
