Precious and refined, this tea ball composed of a medallion attached to an elegant chain evokes a necklace or old pocket watch. This jewel-like object was created by the young Dutch designer Titus Wybenga as part of a workshop organised by Alessi in 2014. Alberto Alessi, the brand’s eponymous director, explains: “I was impressed by the level of craftsmanship in this project. The goal was to design an object for daily use that would have the quality of a jewel. The pocket watch, a classic precious object, thus finds a new contemporary life as a tea ball. The main purpose of a watch is to mark time, while in its new form, its function is to stop time, creating a moment of tranquillity and reflection. It would be nice if people started to wear it, just like a personal accessory.” A must-have for all tea addicts, this tea ball in 18/10 stainless steel allows optimal diffusion of aromas, and can be easily removed from your teapot or mug using its long steel cord.
