The Line-up Serax Serving Dish, a design inspired by the traditional serving board
With this “The Line-up” serving dish, Annebet Philips plays with the conventions of the traditional display board to offer an all-ceramic interpretation. Crafted from enamelled sandstone, this white dish measuring 37 × 15 cm is accented with a hand-painted blue line. Its narrow silhouette extends into a perforated handle that accentuates its unconventional design and makes it easy to grip. The deliberately irregular decoration preserves all the spontaneity characteristic of the collection.
Annebet Philips: Drawing as a Starting Point
Based in Amsterdam, Annebet Philips develops a playful, almost cartoon-like visual language based on simple shapes and deliberately imperfect contours. For The Line-up, she translates the energy of quick, hand-drawn sketches into Ceramic. The lines, therefore, do not strive for perfect regularity. Their movement and subtle variations are an integral part of the design.
The blue evokes Delft blue, but Annebet Philips offers a much more stripped-down and contemporary interpretation. She retains the iconic contrast of blue on white while replacing traditional decorations with a free, simple, and immediately recognizable line.
